Mrs. Lucy J. Swearingen, 83, a member of the Indiana State Soldiers' home was found dead in bed Sunday in her room in the Lake county cottage.  She had been ill for some time and death was due to heart trouble.  Mrs. Swearingen was born January 23, 1847, in Shelby county, Ill., and was admitted to the home from Crawfordsville.  She was twice married.  Her first husband was Milton Earp, a Civil war veteran, J.A. Swearingen, who also preceded her in death.  The body was taken to the Rogers and Smith funeral home and later to Crawfordsville for burial. – thanks to Kim H
